      <title>UNeSS - Taste Your Heart Beat</title>
<itunes:subtitle>Under the wing of highly-regarded producer Ryan Leslie, Uness is about to embark on possibly the biggest calendar year of his life. The Canadian-born singer, who recently inked a distribution deal with Universal Music Group through Leslie’s NextSelection, has rare triple-threat talent (songwriting, production and performance) that very few in the industry can match. On his new buzz single, Uness reminisces about a past relationship he still isn’t over. In fact, he’s so hung up on his former lady that he tells her, “I can taste your heartbeat.” (Please hold off on the Hannibal comments). While Uness is sure to field comparisons to both Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke, the young artist will undoubtedly carve out his very own niche as the “Next Selection.”</itunes:subtitle>

      <title>Treal - Spaceship</title>
<itunes:subtitle>Florida hip-hop is synonymous with artists who like spitting game to all the females in the club. From 2 Live Crew‘s ‘86 favorite, Get It Girl, to Flo-Rida and T-Pain‘s #1 hit, Low, it’s a tradition with deep history in the Sunshine State. On their new cut, Spaceship, Orlando group Treal gives this tradition a futuristic twist. Members Eliseo Way III, Poetic, Tsick, and Cheeze spot a female they can only describe as ”out of this world,” so naturally they ask her to bring them inside her Spaceship (how creative!) Since sexually-enhanced, futuristic-lyrics deserve an appropriate backdrop, Kane Beatz (most recently known for his extensive work on Chamillionaire‘s Ultimate Victory) ignites the track with a synthesizer/organ/xylophone beat. Start the countdown now, because it should only be a matter of time before Spaceship blasts off on its mission to Planet Billboard.</itunes:subtitle>

      <title>Twista - For One Night</title>
<itunes:subtitle>Despite receiving positive reviews on his latest studio album, Adrenaline Rush 2007, rapper Twista has had to scratch his head in amazement at the major decline of his personal record sales. Taking into consideration a genre-wide slump (see 50 Cent), the Chicago-born MC is back at it with a brand new song to ring in 2008. Using the late Luther Vandross’ If Only For One Night (also the inspiration for Omarion and Bow Wow’s Let Me Hold You), Twista compares his love for the microphone to that of a women. Lyrically it doesn’t get much better, but the only way to really know that is by listening to For One Night at least five times. Despite rumors that he was dropped by Atlantic Records, Twista is still signed to the label and expects to hop back in the studio shortly.</itunes:subtitle>

      <title>2 Pac - Dopefiend’s Diner </title>
<itunes:subtitle>This past September marked the 11-year anniversary of Tupac Shakur’s (still unsolved) murder. Since his unfortunate demise there has been 17 albums (six studio, eleven compilation) released under his name, each a combination of previously heard or unheard material. Those numbers, which were calculated to include this December’s two-part release, The Best of Pac, are indicative of the highest-selling rap artist of all-time. The second disc of the release, Life, contains one of two never before heard songs: Dopefiend’s Diner. The record is Pac’s take on Suzanne Vega’s original, Tom’s Diner, and although it was recorded many years ago Pac is still able to breathe life into the currently diluted industry. The album release is clearly intended to make money, but it’s also a reminder of how much Pac is truly missed. </itunes:subtitle>

      <title>One Chance - Slow Mo</title>
<itunes:subtitle>In 2005, Usher announced he started his own record label, US Records. The flagship artists on the label were songwriter/rapper Rico Love and R&amp;B quartet One Chance. Despite both acts receiving a spot on the soundtrack to Usher’s film debut, In The Mix, neither has released their major label debut. Although label frustrations have stunted the development of the Chicago-based One Chance, they have continued to record new material and leak banger after banger. Following the leaked cuts U Can’t and Get On Top; Rob, Jon, Michael and Courtney have cooked up the sexy dance floor hit, Slow Mo. Featuring Akon-signee’s Rock City, the song has an authentic island vibe that’s sure to capture the hearts and bodies of women around the world.</itunes:subtitle>

      <title>Mario - Music For Love</title>
<itunes:subtitle>Due to the leak of a video for the Akon-produced song, Do Right, many Mario fans assume they know what single the singer has chosen to follow Crying Out For Me. Contrary to the video (and popular belief), the third single off Mario’s recently-released album, Go, will be Music For Love. Over a beat by Mad Scientist that Usher would have scooped up in a heartbeat, a grown-up Mario uses musical analogies to explain his love for a special someone. While Music For Love is just one of the many single-worthy tracks Mario had to choose from, it just might be the perfect title to describe an artist who battled a year long delay to release his new album.</itunes:subtitle>

      <title>Lupe Fiasco - Blackout</title>
<itunes:subtitle>In case you haven’t noticed, chart topping Hip-Hop of late has been infused with catchy synth-production that caters to dance clubs. To clarify, we don’t mean Soulja Boy’s “Superman” dance or Hurricane Chris’ “Hand Clap,” but rather Timbaland’s The Way I Are or Diddy’s duet with Nicole Scherzinger, Come To Me. DJs like spinning artists like The Cool Kids or Kid Sister; the more artists catch on to this trend, the more their music will be heard in places it customarily is not. If you purchased Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool at an outlet like Circuit City, you’re enjoying the bonus cut, Black Out. Produced by in-house man, Soundtrakk, the beat is right in line with Timbaland’s best synth-heavy production and allows Fiasco to be himself without changing up his style to cater to a new arena of fans. “You can’t see me,” raps Lupe. Actually, we can see you; we can hear you too. </itunes:subtitle>

      <title>Lyfe Jennings - Brand New</title>
<itunes:subtitle>The first musical-usage of a vocoder (vocal synthesizer) was by electronic music pioneers Wendy Carlos and Robery Moog in 1970. Since then, the vocoder has morphed into a ‘voice box’ and of late has taken over the industry. Re-popularized by T-Pain last year, artists such as Chris Brown and Snoop Dogg have jumped on board the box in favor of their true studio vocals. Clearly succumbing to industry peer pressure, Lyfe Jennings has followed the leader and used the revolutionary device on the new cut, Brand New. Interestingly enough, as popular as voice box-usage has been, Lil’ Wayne’s presence on a feature verse has been just as fashionable. Which will fade faster? The voice box or Weezy? We’ll see if both are still popular when Lyfe’s new album, Change, drops in February.</itunes:subtitle>

      <title>Kidd Skilly - Ni Sohniye </title>
<itunes:subtitle>Punjabi-American MC, Kidd Skilly, is looking to bring his culture to the forefront of the hip-hop world. To help the Detroit resident achieve that goal, international hit maker Akon was recruited for the new single, Ni Sohniye (translation, my pretty lady). While Kon steals the show with an out-of-this-world hook and solid production, Kidd does his part as well, spitting game to all the sohniyes in the building. With formulaic rap ruling the airwaves, most listeners want some variety; Ni Sohniye should satisfy their appetites.</itunes:subtitle>
